The agreement
The agreement depends on what the customer is trying to achieve. For those seeking to use on-site generated renewable energy, customers enter into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This results in a transition to locally generated sustainable energy with a long term fixed energy rate, without having to invest time and resources. Alpheon takes care of sourcing, investment, subsidies, installation, operations, maintenance and monitoring & control. Additionally, we can balance low-yield and high-yield locations for the same customer, enabling a higher overall energy independence.
Customers seeking to combine this with an energy efficiency programme will also enter into an Alpheon Energy Saving Contract (ESC). This delivers energy savings without up-front customer capital costs. Alpheon conduct a comprehensive “Efficiency Scan” on the premises to identify opportunities to save energy. In consultation with the existing building manager, Alpheon then design and engineer a series of measures to meet the customer’s pre-agreed efficiency targets and provide the necessary finance. The equipment and measures installed deliver efficiency and savings which Alpheon guarantee on a no fee basis if targets are not met. At the end of the contract, all additional cost savings accrue to the customer. Typical contract terms for ESCs are between 4 and 10 years.
The services
We offer the optimal sustainable energy and efficiency solutions by keeping track of all technical developments within solar energy, (urban) wind-energy, geothermal heating/cooling and any new upcoming sustainable energy and efficiency technologies that become market-ready. At present, Alpheon cover 89 individual efficiency measures which each have variable effects on a building’s energy profile based on the current state of the building and existing plant within.
Our unique energy and efficiency scan process enables you to receive a full overview of the feasibility of each technology for each of your sites. Based on this overview, the customer decides which technologies best suit each site and by then entering either into a PPA and/or ESC with Alpheon or choosing to serve themselves using the tools required.
Alpheon has access to the right local expertise for development and construction, which is key for a quick and flawless implementation process.
Due to the nature of the PPA and ESC we are focused on obtaining the maximum output and efficiency savings. Our unique monitoring & control dashboard creates one overview of the energy consumption, savings and generation on all locations. This allows, in the case of local generation, for shortages and surpluses to be distributed over different locations as appropriate.
The approach
Local Generation
The implementation process for solar panels, windmills or geothermal heating/cooling installations usually lasts between 3 and 4 months. The exact time will also depend on the permit and building requirements, as well as the site conditions. These are all taken care of by Alpheon.
Energy Efficiency
An efficiency investment programme commences with an initial assessment for taking 28 days. This will lead to a detailed report specifying the measures that make sense to invest in a property. The full range of efficiency measures can take between 1 and 12 months to install depending on the technology and any pre-installation assessment and measurement processes required.
